About Me

  • I build the on-device models that decide when Siri should be listening. My work at Apple ships in “Hey Siri” and back-to-back requests across iPhone, Watch, and HomePod, on the Siri Attention and Invocation team.
  • I received my PhD from Indiana University, advised by Prof. Minje Kim as a member of the SAIGE research lab. My dissertation tackled personalization for speech enhancement systems. Before that I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois.
  • My research applies deep learning to speech and music processing, with a focus on resource-efficient acoustic models that run on device.
  • I have helped teach Deep Learning Systems (ENGR-E 533), Machine Learning for Signal Processing (ENGR-E 511), and The Art of Web Programming (CS 498RK).
  • In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, sharing music, DJing, traveling, taking candid photographs, and playing video games (especially DDR or ITG).
